Daugherty Water for Food Institute

The Daugherty Water for Food Institute is a research, education and policy analysis institute committed to helping the world efficiently use its limited freshwater resources, with particular focus on ensuring the food supply for current and future generations.

Growing more food using less water is one of the greatest challenges facing the global community.  With the world population expected to increase by 40% to 9 billion people by 2050 the demand for food will double.  This, coupled with a staggering 70% of freshwater withdrawals serving agricultural production, poses a dilemma that must be solved.  With partnerships in place with entities in the Netherlands, Brazil, India, and Italy, along with regional collaborations with USAID, the Water for Food Institute is committed to employing leading strategies and working with those leading the field in water conservation and research.  To read more about the Daugherty Water for Food Institute visit their website
