How to Apply for OPT
DO NOT FILE YOUR USCIS APPLICATION ONLINE UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR NEW I-20 REQUESTING OPT FROM THE ISSO.
Step 1: Watch all of the videos. If you still have questions regarding the OPT process, contact the ISSO to speak to a specialist.
Step 2: Take the Optional Practical Training Quiz in iGlobal. You will not gain access to the OPT Recommendation Form until you receive 100% on the quiz.
Step 3: Submit the OPT Recommendation Form to the ISSO to request your new I-20. It will take the ISSO 7-10 business days to issue your new I-20 with OPT recommendation.
Step 4: File your OPT application online with USCIS. You may meet with a specialist to review your OPT application prior to submission.
Step 5: After you receive your OPT card, submit a scan of the front and back of the card to ISSO using the OPT Card form.
