Travel to (Re)gain F-1 status:
In order to return to UNL for the following semester please follow the below steps:
- Step 1: Request I-20 from ISSO website here, the reason will be ‘TRAVEL TO (RE)GAIN STATUS’:
- Upload your financial documentation with this form
- Financial documentation must be equivalent to one academic year and written in English or have an English translation
- Step 2: Obtain your new I-20:
- We will email you your I-20 and you will need to print and sign the I-20.
- Step 3: Upon receiving the new I-20, pay new SEVIS fee here.
- Step 4: Visit US Embassy to obtain new F-1 visa (sticker in passport)
- Note: this is optional if a student already has a valid F-1 visa. However, student may experience issues with Customs Border and Protection because SEVIS number on I20 will not match SEVIS number on visa.
- Step 5: Travel back to U.S.
- Step 6: Participate in ISSO check-in session to activate immigration record (required)
