Multicultural Homecoming features 6 alumni sharing experiences with students

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s homecoming celebration features six distinguished alumni of color returning to campus to share expertise within their respective colleges and directly with students. Organized by the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of People of Color, the visits are part of Multicultural Homecoming events being offered through Oct. 1.

International students invited to share at Community Chats

International students are invited to share their experiences in a series of student-led Community Chats this fall hosted by the International Student Advisory Board. In partnership with Global Affairs and the International Student and Scholar Office, the student advisory board is hosting three Community Chats to gather insights for recommendations in alignment with the third goal in the Forward Together global strategy and the N2025 Strategic Plan. The listening sessions will also serve as a springboard for the next iteration of the International Student Experience climate survey launching in the spring.

Retired, international housing highlight 2100 Vine redevelopment proposal

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln community would gain housing for older Huskers under a redevelopment proposal selected for a 16.49-acre university-owned tract at 2100 Vine St. The development would be anchored in part by apartment buildings geared for retired Nebraska alumni, emeritus faculty, retired staff and other seniors. The public-private partnership also would create housing and other resources for Lincoln’s international community, commercial space and retail stores, among other amenities.

Michaels to study flooding management in Canada as Fulbright project

As a second-grader in Winnipeg, University of Nebraska–Lincoln scholar Sarah Michaels recreated the 1950 Red River flood in plasticine on her teacher’s desk. Now, she’s back in Canada to again tackle how to understand flooding.

Michaels, professor of political science and a faculty fellow with the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center, has been named Fulbright Canada Distinguished Research Chair in Environmental Science at Carleton University.
