Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture taps UNL professor for leadership
Richard Ferguson, professor and interim head of the Agronomy and Horticulture Department, has been named vice chancellor for the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA). Opening in July 2019, RICA is an English language institution dedicated to educating and inspiring a new generation of innovators in agriculture in Rwanda. The institute is a joint effort of the Rwandan government and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.
Hospitality expert discusses international consulting work on Faculty 101 podcast
Dipra Jha, a hospitality expert who travels the globe while advising some of the world’s most luxurious resorts, discussed his work as a professor-in-residence with one of India’s “jewel box” resorts and Las Vegas’ Venetian-Palazzo, the largest Five Diamond hotel in the world. The associate professor of hospitality, restaurant and tourism management also talks about his efforts to fulfill the university’s land-grant mission by collaborating with industry professionals across Nebraska.
Nebraska-led international team uncovers deathbed detail of Medici duchess
In partnership with researchers from Lithuania, Italy, and Brazil, Dr. Karl Reinhard and his UNL team recently co-authored a study in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports revealing the plant Grand Duchess of Tuscany and House of Medici member Vittoria della Rovere took to ease her pending death in 1694.
UNL celebrates Latvia’s Centennial with special Kārlis Ulmanis event
On September 14, UNL offered a chance for the community to celebrate Lincoln graduate, founding father, Prime Minister and President of Latvia, Kārlis Ulmanis. Lepard Teaches Course at Brazilian Law School on “Hot Topics in International Law”
In July and August 2018 Professor Brian Lepard taught a one-week course entitled “Hot Topics in International Law” at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (“UFRGS”) in Porto Alegre, Brazil. About 30 students participated in the course.
