New report explores Nebraskans’ views on foreign affairs

Nebraskans in rural and urban areas alike view international trade as the aspect of U.S. foreign policy that most affects their own lives and ability to earn a living. Additionally, even those who are not directly engaged in agriculture believe international commodity markets are important to the state’s economy. Nebraskans also largely believe that immigration is critical to addressing the state’s workforce needs.

Research continues momentum in expenditures, awards

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln achieved $317 million in total research expenditures for the 2019 fiscal year, representing a 2.8% increase from the previous year and marking a ninth consecutive year of increased growth.

Go Big Grad celebration a university wide, herculean effort

Back in early March, while University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and students made an unprecedented transition to remote learning, another group on campus began a similar herculean task.

As social distancing became the new normal, traditional spring ceremonies were off the table, but Vanessa Gorman, chair of the university’s commencement and recognition committee, said the group hardily took on a new, important mission: to make the May 9 graduation day special and memorable for each of the nearly 3,500 graduates, despite the circumstances.
